Rivian and Tesla Collaborate to Boost Electric Vehicle Adoption
Rivian, the American electric vehicle automaker, announced a groundbreaking deal with industry giant Tesla. This deal gives Rivian drivers access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Rivian to Leverage Tesla’s Supercharger Network:
Starting in 2024, Rivian drivers will gain access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers, expanding their charging options. Rivian plans to release an adapter in spring 2024, allowing the R1T and R1S models to seamlessly connect to the Supercharger network. As a result, Rivian’s acclaimed vehicles will enjoy enhanced convenience and reliability, opening up a new world of possibilities for their drivers.
Rivian Adventure Network’s Continued Expansion:
Despite this collaboration, Rivian remains committed to its mission. Furthermore, it plans to continue the nationwide rollout of the Rivian Adventure Network, its own charging infrastructure. By pursuing this dual strategy, Rivian aims to further expand charging options for EV drivers.
Incorporation of North American Charging Standard (NACS):
Starting in 2025, Rivian plans to incorporate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge ports in their R1 vehicles, as well as the upcoming R2 platform. This move is an industry-wide embrace of NACS, contributing to a seamless EV charging experience.
Joint Acceleration Toward Carbon Neutrality: Rivian and Tesla’s Collaborative Step Forward
